This week, some of you may have noticed issues with Turnitin similarity scores or delays in receiving your Turnitin reports. We're here to keep you informed and make sure you’re not feeling stressed about this. Here’s everything you need to know and what you can do while the situation is being addressed by the University.
Will My Grade Be Affected by a High Turnitin Similarity Score?
The short answer: no, it won’t.
If you’ve received a Turnitin similarity score that seems unexpectedly high, don’t worry. Your assignment marker is aware of the issue and knows how to assess your work fairly. They’ll be able to adjust for any false matches, especially if the score includes similarities to a draft you submitted earlier.
Rest assured, you won’t be penalized for something that’s out of your control. The University has put additional processes in place to make sure your originality and hard work are recognised.
How Can I Check My Work While This Is Being Fixed?
We know you rely on Turnitin to double-check your citations and originality before submitting assignments. While the main reporting system is being sorted out, you can use the Turnitin Draft Coach tool to keep your work on track.
With Draft Coach, you can:
- Fine-tune your citation skills.
- Spot and fix unintentional plagiarism.
- Catch grammar mistakes early.
It’s like having a little helper to guide you while you polish up your work! You can watcht the Turnitin Draft Coach tutorial for tips on how to make the most of it, or find out more here.
Heads Up: Temporary Turnitin Delays
This weekend, Turnitin's reporting function may be unreliable due to some scheduled third-party activity. This might mean a delay in receiving your similarity score.
But here’s the good news: your submissions won’t be affected. You can still upload your assignments via iLearn as usual, even if the Turnitin report isn’t immediately available.
